bindi (Hindi: बिंदी, from Sanskrit बिन्दु bindú, meaning "point, drop, dot or small particle") is a coloured dot worn on the centre of the forehead, originally by Hindus and Jains from the Indian subcontinent. The word bindu dates back to the hymn of creation known as Nasadiya Sukta in the Rigveda Mandala 10. Bindu is considered the point at which creation begins and may become unity. It is also described as "the sacred symbol of the cosmos in its unmanifested state".

Indian bindi are reusable body stickers used as jewelry. Think Bollywood fun! Traditionally Indian bindi are worn on the forehead midway between the eyes, but bindi can be worn anywhere! Bindi look great at the corner of the eyes or on the chest as a floating necklace. They are wonderful for belly dance or Indian dance performances and costumes. Not only can you wear bindi anywhere, anyone can wear bindi. It doesn't matter your culture, religion, background, skin color, or language, bindi can be embraced by anyone with a touch of Bollywood style. When worn on the forehead, bindi are used as a way to get in touch with your inner eye or 6th chakra. Bindi worn in the third eye position is said to help with focus and relating to others. Bindi stickers typically last 1-3 wears. After the adhesive wears off, use a little eyelash glue or a glue stick to re-stick bindi jewelry.

A bindi is a bright dot of some colour applied in the centre of the forehead close to the eyebrows or in the middle of the forehead, worn in the Indian subcontinent (particularly amongst Hindus in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka) and Southeast Asia among Balinese, Javanese, Malaysian, Singaporean, Vietnamese and Burmese Hindus. A similar marking is also worn by babies and children in China and, as in the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, represents the opening of the third eye. Bindi in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism is associated with ajna chakra, and Bindu is known as the third eye chakra. Bindu is the point or dot around which the mandala is created, representing the universe. The bindi has a historical and cultural presence in the region of Greater India
